OP, I don't think that anyone-- much less Heywood-- could fully comprehend what you've gone through in your lifetime so far. The fact that he isn't up in arms for you screams ignorance of Mormonism in particular, and is a clearcut example of the good ol Christian double standard.
Your father was obviously the protagonist here by responding with anything other than "how are you and wifey?"
If Heywood wants to post on Facebook that he fucking loves getting up at 7am on a Sunday to go listen to old ladies sing hyms and pastor man belching out another all too familiar speech about inner turmoil and reassurances of their religion--more power to him. This is just yet another example of the double standard where believers give allowances to one another. At least you and I go into every situation objectively. Heywood clearly took sides not based upon righteousness, but religiousness. Your religious proclivities should not affect your relationship with your family and if it does, shame on them.
It seems we all live our own little versions of hell on earth with religion and come out better for it. I'm still in the last transitioning phase .. its called Recovery. Get yourself to the point of indifference towards anything he could throw at you before you talk to your father again though. He might say something he'll regret when his newest culty reconversion tactic doesnt work. Oh! And NO one needs to know your business about you and your wife, but you and your wife. Remember that

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
