Unless god was lying when he said he never lies. How would you know if he did? You're just assuming he's not lying because that's what you want to be true.

If the bible is true then god stopped physically appearing to people several centuries ago. Why? Because we now have weaponry capable of killing him, and he's scared.
Hell, it's a theory with just as much evidentiary support as the idea that there is a god at all...
