Actually, there's a pretty strong overlap in people who would say that both to atheists and non-whites. It's just getting to be less popular to say that type of thing to non-whites using your outdoor voice. A lot of this is basic tribalism. WASPs have sat at the top for a long time, and that's slowly being eroded. What you're seeing is a reaction based on fear and revanchism.

Although, that won't stop the fundies from complaining about the "atheist agenda" ruining America. It's mostly politically incorrect to complain about homosexuality, but that doesn't stop them from doing it or complaining about being labeled "homophobes" or "bigots".
