There very well could be peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, the Koreas, or wherever in the world - but it will only be a truce. According to the last book in the Bible, there will eventually be a "real" peace brought about by a man known to Christians as "the antichrist", "the beast", "666" and a few other names. In the beginning, this man will be real nice and solve all of the world's problems. Eventually, he will become a dictator.
Your friend probably believes in a doctrine known as the Pre-Trib Rapture, where "Christians" will be whisked away. This is a false doctrine that people have made up to avoid the persecution and death prophesized to come.
First, this dictator must arrive on the scene. Then a few years later, WWIII happens, and when mankind is on the brink of annihilation, THEN Jesus Christ will return.
Since you, and most of the people on this site, don't believe any of this, that's fine. It will not try to convince you that this will happen - but you should at least be aware of this scenario.
I don't have time for all the infinite conceivable fantasy scenarios of infinitesimally probability. Why would I find this scenario worthy of prioritizing in my awareness over a infinite number of comparatively less unlikely, but still overwhelmingly unlikely, scenarios that could be conceived?

By pointing out bible has been so wrong so comprehensively that one has as good a, if not better, chance of gaining insight into future events by divination from the shapes of the dung of jackasses than by reading prophecies from the bible.
