If coming out to your family and friends will cost you, don't do it.
I've known families that have made their atheist children's lives miserable. Not to mention even going as far as not paying for college and kicking them out of they house as soon as they are 18.
There is no hurry. My advice is to wait until you are financially independent.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
