I almost wonder if he had to take a break at some point to rest his arm - which, really, would just make your ancestor that much more of a badass.
My grandfather was held and questioned for several days over a string of murders involving a claw hammer (ultimately, they didn't have enough on him and they never closed the case). He went into the klink with money in his pocket - and came out of the klink with money in his pocket, he's a very small man. Apparently, no one wanted to risk it. I have trouble imagining him as the sort of guy who would murder someone with a claw hammer - but I've seen him deliver enough judicious assbeatings with lesser implements and for no discernable reason to realize that ultimately, it's my affection for the man driving my conclusions. He's pretty mum about the subject, except to say that "them fellers had it comin".
There have been two killings in my family, one on each parent's side: my paternal grandmother killed killed her husband when she discovered him cheating, and my maternal great-aunt, who killed her husband when she discovered him cheating. In neither case was the killer prosecuted.
Needless to say, I'm a loyal and faithful man.
