God did establish men to have the role of authority in the family and the church, but never declared women to be inferior.

Must you be this literal whenever it suits you? Words mean nothing; if you set up a series of rules that force an entire class of people to be submissive to another, that precludes them from certain roles, sight unseen, then you are treating that class of people as inferior. Who cares if you don't outright declare it? If the real world ran on declarations then propaganda heavy dictatorships would be the happiest, most prosperous places on earth!
