Please give an example of religious failing that isn't actually human failing.

As long as you're admitting both Old and New Testaments to contain numerous texts falsely attributed to divine command or righteous living, or that offer purely metaphorical language though not traditionally recognized as such, then I concede the point. Otherwise you're forced to bite the bullet and accept that rational, humanistic standards of morality are not compatible with many of its claims and instructions.
