Easier said than done. He's in high school. He might not be "out" as an atheist. Depending on your personality, the last thing one might want to do in high school (in Texas no less) is to profess atheism. This is one of the many reasons why mandatory prayer in school is a bad idea. Singling out people who may not want to participate is a byproduct.
