Faith isn't just saying that you believe that Jesus is your savior, but actually following him. Of course, we will fall into sin sometimes, but if we're true followers of Christ, we will continually improve our lives. A christian doesn't just live a sinful life on purpose with the intention of repenting before death. Even if he did, there's no true sorrow or repentance. An admirable interpretation - but not, in any way, the official "christian line" on the matter. Your interpretation still labours under those who "sincerely desire forgiveness" - perhaps even make meaningful change...but simply do not deserve forgiveness, those who cannot make enough change to compensate. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult for you to imagine such a person (or find an example)...but I think it will be difficult for you to explain why they will not be granted forgiveness...if the bar is set so damned low as to really wanting it...super duper bad....even though it's pretty easy to explain why they don't deserve it (or indeed..as it's often said, why none of us deserve it).
The whole thing is a can of compartmentalized worms, imo.
(Your comments on a true christian, or what sorrow or repentance may exist in a person...btw... are garbage - I think you know that. Do you not continue to "sin" and yet feel sorrow?)
