Hasn't stopped people from treating non Christians like second class citizens. Or are you going to pretend for a second that prohibiting Christians from marrying non-believers isn't a part of early Christian religion, dictated by St. Paul? You could also pretend that the horrific, backwards doctrine of eternal hell didn't spur people on to convert people by the sword.
