Christianity perpetuates the myth that "the bible" is somehow the word of God and should be taken very seriously. It holds up the fictional "God" character in this book as the ultimate standard of good morality. However, this character is the most evil creation in all of fiction. He's murderous, genocidal, a liar, a manipulator, egomaniacal, contradictory, sexist, orders mass slaughter and rape for no good reason, kills people on a whim for no justifiable reason, he loves the smell of burning animals and demands animal sacrifices, he condones and regulates slavery, telling people how they can buy slaves, how much they can beat them, and how they can be your property, even their offspring, he sends people to "hell" for refusing to worship him, he demands weird bodily mutilations like circumcision, he chooses his favourite people and then makes sure they win battles as they go murdering and pillaging through town after town, he sets up impossible standards and then makes you feel terrible when you don't live up to them, he hates homosexuality, he looked kindly upon the man who gives his daughters up for gang rape and destroys the rest of the town, he continues to fuck up his own plans and then corrects them with murder, violence and blame of others, he says he is "good" over and over again while behaving in exactly the opposite manner, he gives ludicrous commandments which were nothing to do with morality even when made, and generally are just about serving him as he sees fit, he decides to impregnate a woman without her consent...
OK, that's enough for now. THAT is the character Christianity is promoting as the ultimate moral character. But to aspire to be anything like him is to be utterly evil.
I got plenty more to say about Christianity, but this post is long enough. If you want me to keep going, I'll move onto the next chapter.
Let me be clear, I'm not attacking christians. I'm giving my opinion of what they put their belief in, and why I hate that belief. I know not everyone takes the bible to be the word of God, but that is the very clear message being sent.
