Criticisms of the article came from many corners, including some fellow Christians.
Science increasingly supports the hypothesis that the universe has a creator, Metaxas wrote. By calculating the probability that life on Earth emerged from random events, the evidence suggests a designer. The existence of life, and the universe itself, is so highly improbable, according to recent scientific findings, disbelief in an intelligent creator has become far fetched, Metaxas argued.

This is the working backwards scenario which seems to indicate that this state of life was a goal and working out how unlikely it is to get this specific result.
These problems vanish when you discount the current state as the goal and accept that if the universe wasn't as it is now it would be different. Maybe similar, maybe not.
Why do theists insist on buying books like this? is their faith so shaky that they need to use bad science to bolster it?
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.
