From what I've read you can only write for larger Hollywood companies if you are willing to let go of all decency and principles. The first thing they do is systematically cut out all the intelligent parts of your script to avoid confusing the focus group (potted plants), and take away all important dialogue from female characters - then they make the ending happier and unambiguous.
