If I claim pink unicorns exist manage to convince tons of people they do, then win local elections, then a national election, then demand that no one offend that claim, my fans will act on my word.
Like when Hilter convinced Germans that they were the master race and that Jews were the problem.
Any claim that spreads without a counter can lead to very bad things. You can only reduce the harm, and yes you still have to allow the claim to be made. But leaving the claim to it's own devices is poison.
Just stumbled across this, this is why you challenge claims.
