Guns or booze, no we don't need to be a society of people wrapped in bubble wrap where no one gets to have fun. Stop making stupid arguments like that. No one is arguing taking all guns or all booze away.
The problem is our lack of investment in better pay and health care. AND our flooded market of guns. Economically stable homes will reduce social problems and gun violence.
You can add two-parent homes to that. Thirty years ago gun control laws were almost non-existent and we didn't have people shooting up schools, restaurants and offices. Now, all of a sudden, we need strong gun control laws.
And stop calling it "gun control" that is cold war crap the right uses to scare gullible gun owners. I wish the left would stop using that term too. I see nothing wrong with "gun safety". Are you against gun safety? Or do you think a girl who will be scared for life for killing her instructor is ok because the adults who let her do it were to fucking stupid to understand an Uzi isn't a toy?
Oh and FYI the nutters love to use Hitler as an example. Nope, after WW1 the allies put heavy gun regulations on Germany. Hitler was the one who relaxed them, but for party loyalists only.
There is no conspiracy by the democrats to turn America into a fascist state. Australia had a mass shooting a few years ago, woke up, put their foot down, they are still an open society. Japan has virtually no guns and the cops have no guns, but that is because people don't feel the need to own them, and they also don't have our pay gap and they are also not a fascist state.
