Couldn't superman turn back time?
Oh... any time traveling plot is also wrong - remember, kids, the planet Earth is moving around the sun, which is moving around the milky way, which is moving at some speed through the absolute cosmical coordinate system - all time travelers should appear in outer space, unless they counter for all that extra spatial traveling.
It's a general problem of SF scripts that they often introduce tech/powers in order to resolve a situation that would invalidate the premise of the entire film/series if not instantly forgotten. For example, it is not all that difficult for the Enterprise in STIV to travel back to 1984. Why don't villains/good guys do that all the time to change history? It's never again mentioned as a possible course of action.
Well... the borg sorta did that in ST -First Contact.... but they could so easily have gone further back in time, say... the fifties... and turned all those unsuspecting humans into awesome borg... and no vulcans would be within reach.
Time travel is always poorly done... but we just keep on wishing it was possible, don't we?
