My quick thoughts on this? He's totally sane & knew what he was doing was wrong. I also think that some small part of him didn't want to go thru with it. This is part of the reason why Mr. security guard is still alive. If you are crazy or really determined, you don't try to rationalize with your victim on why he is about to die, that shit only happens in the movies, you kill as many as you can before the cops arrive.
