Strong atheism is definitely a faith-based position.

It's not like the existence of God (or a supernatural creator of the cosmos) is an impossibility. Since anything exists at all, it's possible for God to exist.
What I'm saying is, you need to keep an open mind. It is illogical to pass a judgment on the idea, because you don't have all the facts in the matter (and let's face it, nobody does). But, just because you don't have evidence for something doesn't make it non-existent. Bad example, but 500 years ago, we didn't have evidence that the Earth was round, but that didn't make it necessarily untrue.
If you close your mind and take the position that God does NOT or CANNOT exist, you've taken a decision based on faith, since you have no evidence to disprove it nor prove it. Decisions made with lack of ALL the evidence are close-minded and inherently flawed.
I guess taking my logic you could make the argument that it's impossible to pass judgment on whether unicorns and faeries exist, and that by saying so you make a faith-based decision. It's been a couple years since I took a logic class, so maybe someone can help solidify my argument.
