Was your grandfather drafted into the Japanese army in WW 2?

Those foods were for the wealthy. Kinda like how chinese food as we know it here (take out) is/was like special occasion treats. Real chinese food still contains stuff most people don't want to scrap off the bottom of their shoes.

Like wise real korean food is just poor farmers way of controlling the spoilage long enough to make it last. Or to push spoilage quickly past the point of decay to firmintation. It often smells like death, but tastes good.

Before WWI Japan and Korea officially became one nation. Unofficially Japan invaded korea, took its lands and killed it high ranking/royal families/land owners and enslaved everyone else. Why? Japan needed food to feed its army and people. And korean officials were corrupt, so the ruling class sold everyone out to become apart of the Japanese high soceity. then Because Japan was an ally after WWI they were allowed to keep the lands they annexed. My mother's Father's family owned lots of land. The japs killed everyone except the kids. The girls went off to "comfort" the soldiers and the boys got to be plantation slaves.. 30 years later when things got bad for the japs (towards the end of WWII) and they knew the Americans were comming (before the Abomb after Okinawa/the first loss of emperial home land in a bazillion years) the japs took every man woman and child and taught them how to stop American bullets for the jap soldiers with the guns behind them.

So no, he wasnt really drafted. It was more of a we will bayonet you here, after we make you watch as we kill your family. or come with us, and stop American bullets in Japan, while your family (moms brothers) stays here and gets to starve to death while they grow all the food the jap army eats.
