Yeah, I'm not going to venture into that abstract here even if I am familiar with 1984. The only thing I ever want is for people to be properly punished for the crimes they commit. That's really not too much to ask for. Crime may always exist, but that does not mean we need to embrace it. The fact that crime just will exist is why we need laws to discourage it. At the moment, the crime of rape isn't quite covered by that ideal like most other violent crimes are. That's my current objection. As far as prevention, the law does not necessarily need to step in there. As I said before, education of society is what will help there.
