Social media is plenty free and open and people can and do use anonymous ID's. However, that's beside the point. Having an online utopia has nothing to do with being anonymous, that's just something you made up. A utopia is a place where everything is perfect for everyone and that place doesn't exist in any sense on any plane of existence that humans know to exist.
But social platforms fit your description because people are free to be whomever they want to be and we see this completely. People are angrier, stupider, louder, more obnoxious. Basically people don't use any sort of filter; they behave however they want to behave. That is what you said was utopia. And using your own words, social media sucks! Yes, it sucks because people, when unfiltered, suck. And yes, some people retaliate to what others post, which can also suck. Conclusion, when people say and do whatever they want, unfiltered, utopia is the last thing that comes to mind.
What I think you really want is a game where you are the only true player and all other characters are simulations and they all just love and accept anything you do. That's a god syndrome. Online simulation "games" have been around for over 20 years and I don't find those to be interesting at all, far from being utopia. For one, they are a computer game and that is extraordinarily limited as compared to the real life we are all given. My suggestion is to make the best of your actual life and stop wasting time on computer simulations.

Why is it so?
