@Darkest.
That would be Lot's wife, not Noah's. Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt in the narrative after disobeying her husbands command (supposedly a dispatch from the heavens) to avert her eyes. Great warning there. "Wives, do what your husband says or you'll be turned to a pillar of salt". Directly following, Lots daughters decided that it would be prudent to get their old man drunk and train him (for two consecutive nights) in order to preserve the bloodline. I'm not entirely sure how drunk you'd have to be to have a threesome with your daughters, but I'm assuming that this would have had to occur before he lost use of his dick due to alcohol...so...not at all that drunk.......
In any case, this narrative was just a clever way to offer a bigoted and ethnocentric origin myth for the Moabites and the Ammonites. We see what (supposedly) became of these peoples, and thusly this little myth is fairly easy to understand. The narrative has a rough parallel in the Eurydice narrative of Orpheus.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

A rough parallel, but in the latter less an enjoinder for women to listen to their men than for men not to dare to cross certain lines in the sand-i.e., not to consider immortality as the purview of man.

Good points queenly one and I find I can share your annoyance at the airhead xtians even from outside your jewish tribe. The quotes they choose to re-purpose are the ones which on the surface can appear to say what they say. Intent of the original author be damned, there it is in black and white. Good scholarship is no hindrance to fundies.
I envy your tribe its clean and unambiguous embrace of things nerdy. My mother was a high school drop out so any assignment with a C on it was bound for the refrigerator. My father was a fundie with a capacity for math and logic but no empathic understanding of things human. Probably the only thing my tribe of origins has going for it is the ease with which I can discard all of its cultural trappings.

Absolutely right, Summer.

The pride that secular, reform and conservative Jews place in education, among a few other things, is part of what makes me feel lucky, and now proud, to have been born one. If Christians actually consistently acted out their much touted values like charity and humility, I might forgive them other things.

Indeed, and this (and your points in the previous post) is why you're not just the (pronounced thee) queen of summers, but my queen of summers.
This emphasis on education (as opposed to ridiculous biblical literalism) is why I have a lot of respect for the Jewish people.
It also helps that some of my favorite people ever (present company included) are Jews - Lewis Black and Jon Stewart for example.
They're prominant in the entertainment industry not just becuase they're witty and smart, but because they're knowledgable and sharp like a nano-wire.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925
Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

Darkest, you're making me blush.
And Lewis Black has a good line in on what many Jews actually think about the bible and Judaism in general - despite being a raving secularist, bless him.

Reading the previous posts flakey...I would say no to your overly LOUD question
