There Are Times When I Am Ashamed of Some Americans

RE: There Are Times When I Am Ashamed of Some Americans
Let me cut to the chase about what really bothers me about this.

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/asu/arti...tives.html

Quote:The Arizona Board of Regents is scheduled to meet Thursday and approve the contract of new Arizona State coach Todd Graham.

Graham, hired last week after spending one season at Pittsburgh, will have a five-year contract that expires Dec. 31, 2016. His annual salary will be $2 million, consisting of $600,000 base salary and $1.4 million additional salary.

Effective Jan. 1, 2013, Graham's annual base salary will increase $50,000. It will continue to increase by that amount every Jan. 1 through the life of the contract.

ASU agreed to pay Pittsburgh $1 million to cover Graham's penalty for opting out of his contract.

Through incentives, Graham can earn:

• As much as $150,000 if ASU reaches certain academic standards.

• $25,000 if ASU appears in the Pac-12 Championship Game. Graham would receive $75,000 more if the Sun Devils win it.

• $500,000 if the Sun Devils appear in the BCS National Championship Game, and an extra $250,000 if they win.

• $250,000 if the Sun Devils appear in any BCS bowl, and an extra $100,000 if they win.

One month of his annual salary for reaching any non-BCS bowl, and an extra $25,000 if ASU wins.

I'm not even going to add that up. But, at the same time we have this going on in Arizona.

http://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/valleyf...ties_p.php

Quote:Tuition increases proposed late last week by Arizona's three public university presidents make getting a public education in Arizona pricier than ever. Worse, they were probably underestimated -- again.

Presidents of the three universities sent their pitch for new tuition increases to the Arizona Board of Regents on Friday, in response to a $170 million cut in funding from the state in Governor Jan Brewer's January budget proposal.

While already creating a new level of poor-dom for students, the universities didn't exactly plan for the budget proposed by the state Senate, which calls for $235 million in cuts in the universities.

But millions for a fucking football coach?

I don't like watching sport, this makes you more of an outsider here than being godless. Elite sport is a waste of money, it may inspire some into action but mostly it just encourages people to sit, eat and drink. Spending money so kids or adults can do something healthy is fine, parks bike paths, pools, it provides a broad benefit.

NEW ELEMENT DISCOVERED
Monday, 21 February 2011 at 16:38.
Sydney University researchers have discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called pillocks. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.

A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganisation in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganisation will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration.

This hypothetical quantity is referred to as a critical morass. When catalysed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium (symbol=Ad), an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many pillocks but twice as many morons.

I find hardly a day goes by that I am not ashamed of something that its citizens or representatives have done. We aspire to be boss of the world no matter what that costs. We think socialism is a dirty word but think who compulsively pursue more billions of dollars are celebrities. Most seem to think capitalism is our highest most defining national value. We have the best political system money has bought. We're uninterested in anyone else in the world but want to clandestinely run their countries so that we can all sleep a little easier at night. I'd leave it but I keep hoping all the boorish people will instead.

I find the freedom thing odd, all these freedoms have been sacrificed, you can be tossed in jail for smoking a plant, if you're an ugly bastard who has to pay it's jail for you, couldn't even have a drink for years. It seems it's companies that have the freedom to screw without interference. If some improvement is suggested, say healthcare, scrape the Westboro shit off the street, ah no that's impeding our freedom. It just seems you guys have been conned, more than normally conned.
