What are Black People Thinking???

Well it depends on how you interpret the bible, as I see it while the bible is racist (in particularly the old testament). However it's a sort of racism is many of us aren't familiar with.

The curse of Ham in the Old Testament was a way blackening the "Canaanites", because Canaan was Ham's son. Also Egypt because the Bible have them descended from Ham. The whole story of Lot's daughters committing incest with him was also another character assassination on the peoples of Moab and Ammon (which are protracted as having descended from these incestuous liaisons).

This fact only adds complexity to my confusion.

In my parents' churches I occasionally heard in whispers that the curse (mark) of Ham was "probably black skin color ... that's why they'll always be --- blah blah blah -- insert more god-condoned racism here"

Most of the churches I went to through my childhood had damn few people of color and some had none. Obviously, I figured out why as I got to be a teenager, but that doesn't explain why there's a dozen god-fearin black churches packed full every Sunday in the inner city. Are they not aware of their god's view on owning humans and how slavery in this country was justified by good-ole-god-fearin white people who were actually just bigots making easy money off of slave labor?


It still doesn't make sense to me. If my grandfather and his father was whipped daily by a self-righteous bigot asshole waving an old religious book in my face, I'd tell him to eat shit and shove his bible up his ass! But hey, that's just me I guess.
