Self-Motivation
Any ideas on how to motivate yourself into being more active?

Spending money on a gym membership motivates me to not waste it...

Big Grin I'm so happy you're back, sugar!

Once you actually start making yourself go out and do things, you should find it to be easier to continue because it's so much fun!

RE: Self-Motivation
Well, ONCE I start doing things it could become easier, OR I could slip back into doing nothing again.

But my question is, how do I make myself do things in the first place?

RE: Self-Motivation
Get up and do it!

Really - just stand up from the chair and go outside and do whatever it is you're going to do.

You can run over it in your head as many times as you want, but really it's just making the choice to step away from whatever else you're doing. Realize if you don't get up and do it, you won't make time later. It is the act of making whatever you want to do out there more important than anything you could be doing inside.

RE: Self-Motivation
So I do it by getting up and doing it. That doesn't make sense to me.

RE: Self-Motivation
Well, when asking how to do something it makes no sense to answer with by just doing it.

Because, the question is how, so just stating that it's done by doing it does not answer the question.

Well, love, you know I'm no good at philosophizing.

If I realize I need to get away from the computer and the thought comes in my head "I probably should get out and do things," I just decide to do it. I close the laptop, get off the bed and do whatever I have to do to go outside.

Maybe I'm not understanding what exactly you're asking.

RE: Self-Motivation
So if the motivation is already there in the first place you can do something but my question is how to create the motivation needed to do something.

And an example for how saying that you do something by doing it makes no sense is that it's like when asked how to ride a bike responding with "by riding it". It doesn't answer the HOW question.
