Nor do I want that from him, Shelly. I like that he is bright and cautious but willing to sign off on these little adventures when the risk/reward tally is right. Obama is the best choice we've had for president in a very long time. That he hasn't righted every wrong or disappeared the deficit yet goes to show you how little political power is concentrated in any office in this country.

Mitt the shit is on the radio saying if you are happy with the direction the country is going, vote for Obama. If not, vote for him (Mitt). That of course assumes that there was anything Obama could have done that would have made a difference but failed to do. It also assumes that Mitt the shit couldn't do any worse, which is very far from true.

Disclaimer: I'm not going to kick Mitt Romney in the nuts or suggest that anyone else do so. I just think it would help him off his pedestal rather nicely.

But Obama won't get the credit. After the assassination of Osama Bin Laden, there were emails and facebook posts claiming that Obama didn't have anything to do with it, it was the Navy SEALS (whom Obama was threatening to not pay, naturally) who just went in on their own, found Osama, and did away with him.

So now the same SEAL team apparently just went into Somalia all on their own and rescued two people being held hostage by pirates.

It was Jimmy Carter's fault the rescue attempt of the hostages in Iran failed. It was evidence of his weakness as a leader. A former submarine commander portrayed as incompetent by those who prefer shouting to reason and honesty. They've honed this shouting thing into quite an art now.

He's the leader of the entire military. That's cool in it's own right, but that's not specifically why he's cool. He's a loving and supportive father, and husband. He's a real person. The Obama family had only one car when he was elected, and that was a Toyota Prius. So, he's environmentally conscious, and it's not just a phony act. He played basketball. The only thing I can think of that is slightly cooler is playing the saxophone.

No one has ever been able to prove that he's particularly gluttonous, or greedy. He's decently reasonable, a master of public speaking, he was a community organizer, not a corporate scumbag. He's not a racist fucktard. He's smart, witty, and easy going.

There are many things that make Obama cool. If someone disagrees with that, it's probably because they resent his coolness, knowing they could never hope to be that cool.... or else their definition of cool is someone like Mitt, Newt, and Rick. At that point, it's obvious that their dictionary is all fucked up.

No, I didn't ever mean to imply that Obama himself was personally and solely responsible for getting Osama. I'm just trying to point out the absurdity of saying that he had absolutely nothing to do with it when he gave the go-ahead order.

And my comparison to Hitler wasn't technically a Godwin, since a Godwin argument usually goes something like, "Obama is a non-smoker. You know who else was a non-smoker? Hitler!" I suppose instead of that comparison, I could have just made the comparison of "If Obama wasn't responsible for getting Bin Laden, then GW Bush wasn't responsible for the fuck-up in Iraq."

But at any rate, I guess it doesn't really matter, since no amount of convincing will ever make right-wing nutjobs credit Obama with anything good.

Yes, but no one said he had absolutely nothing to do with it. At least, no one here did, so pointing that argument at those in this thread is kind of like yelling at a stranger for something your wife did.

That's irrelevant. I'm not a right-wing nut job and I never said I wouldn't give Obama any credit. I'm just tired of seeing shit like posters that have pictures of Obama that say, "I killed Osama bin Laden. I'm a badass." or some such nonsense. Obama didn't kill anyone. He didn't even risk his life and those men do, so fucking order or no order, the bulk of my respect goes to them. Interestingly, my opinion of Obama leads me to believe he would agree with me on that.

Ah, I see. Well, the bottom line is that you will never get Republicans to like a Democrat and vice-versa. That he's a black Democrat just pisses them off even more. I don't like that Obama guy.
On grounds on foreign policies, no offense.
But really, I don't know how he actually managed to make things take a turn for the better.
Really, he received a nobel prize for some reason, yet at that time, he did not even allowed the military to move out of Iraq yet.
I think that it was given to him so that he wouldn't start any more new wars, and he effectively stayed out of Libya for that matter, but really, it's been years, and I don't know if any of you have any "hope" whatsoever, since people are willing to move to Sweden as soon as possible.
