Nice, according to Santorum we kill 10% of our nations deaths are by euthanasia, half of those involuntary, and therefore our elderly go to hospitals abroad because they fear they might not come out alive due to budget cuts. Way to fact-check mr Santorum.

That this man is even this close to the presidency scares the shit out of me.

I thought america had hit bottom with bush junior, little did I know.....

Headrights, the evasion of debt, and hostile takeovers of crown granted corporate monopolies are the foundation of this nation, oh, and agricultural entrepreneurship and excellence.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Santorum's target audience thinks that the earth being 6,000 years old is a fact. That is one dumb group.

They also think the bible is "historical data". They also think that the devil has taken control of the colleges, and that college level education material are lies designed to draw people away from the truth of the gospel.

All I can say is.. if santorum gets elected, then we dumb ass Americans deserve him and all of the idiocy that will come with him. Its just like corporations being people. If the majority of people dont like that then why the fuck were they voting for the people who put them on the bench. We deserve a corporate owned supreme court. We deserve a corporate owned senate and house.

Now we deserve the removal of labor laws, abolishment of the minimum wage, the moving of social security into the pockets of the private sector, and everything that was fought for over the last 100 years to go down the toilet.

We deserve this as a whole because we have let our country go so far to the right...just like we deserve to have Santorum as president

I don't know if evangelicalism had any part in it, but it certainly was "right" wing.

This is what's interesting. The republicans really seem to by honing in on this target audience. It's not that large. The farther right and the more fundamentalist they get the more they should alienate people thus making themselves unelectable (logically speaking).

It's true that fundamentalists strongly promote their candidates . In church they pass out lists of people to vote for. The criteria for those who make the list is rarely debated beyond things like "Is he really a true Christian or is he just saying this to get elected." If you look at the big picture the promotion of these people happens only within a relatively narrow group of people.

Doesn't matter how small the group is, they're counting on them being militant about going to the polls (tell a fundy his faith is threatened). If a group of 100 people has 80% turnout and a group of 1000 people with an opposing vote has a turnout of 7%........

System, meet power-gamers.

In a sane country, he would have been laughed off the podium a long, long time ago, along with Batshit Shelly and any other idiots who claim God talks to them. I think most of it has to do with a blind hatred of anything not strictly Christian, and since fundie Christians see their iron grip on American society slipping away bit by bit, they want to try to elect the most extreme candidate they can in order to bring the country back to where they think it should be. What they fail to realize is that the rest of the voter base, the vast majority who aren't conservative fundie Christians, will never elect someone like that. They actually enjoy the freedom to have sex outside of marriage with contraception, and even gay sex. Not only that, but Santorum can harp on gay sex and contraception all he wants, but seems to not realize the real issue is the economy. Even Bill O'Reilly said that he was wrong for saying that JFK's comments on the separation of church & state "makes him want to throw up." I think even most conservatives know that Santorum is more of a liability than an asset in this election.

I didn't think of that. You're right, churches are good at mobilizing their "Christian soldiers" so to speak. You can't forget the numbers game.
