California's gay marriage ban unconstitutional
Federal appeals court rules California gay marriage ban unconstitutional

Quote:SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A federal appeals court has declared California's same-sex marriage ban to be unconstitutional, paving the way for a likely U.S. Supreme Court showdown on the voter-approved law.

Could this be the first step in having gay marriage legalized nationwide?

The first steps were states legalizing it like dominoes. It is inevitably going to happen at some point, but there's no way to know how soon.

I predict a federal ammendment will now be front and center in the Republican platform. Let's see if Mitt jumps on this one.

The US Supreme Court is packed with Catholic biddies who, so far, have sanctioned Super-PACs completely (1), allowed Congress to recopyright public domain works and sell off to the highest bidder (2), and ruled in the most ridiculous manner (they chose to ruled based on a narrow definition of property and wiretapping, not privacy thus avoiding creating a precedent regarding reasonable expectation of privacy) on the GPS tracking case (3).

I wouldn't trust them any further than Minimalist can throw them.

Hell, I'd love that. Mostly because it expands the number of states where I can get married from ~6 to 50 Big Grin

Why the kerfuffle over this, so there will be even more cocksuckers who can legally get married. Don't any of you fuckers know blowjobs end after marriage, thats the one thing ringriders had over heterosexuals.

I can't wait for gay marriage to be legal in all 50 states just to hear the conservative Christians whine about it.

How about no laws. If your gay and want to get married go for it. If your straight and want to get married go for it. Why should my government decide who I can marry? Marriage is a personal thing, and should not need to be "okayed" by the government. A more efficient and logical way is to erase all laws on marriage. So then gay/straight marriage is now bound by laws, and becomes a non-issue.

Marriage is a individual personal choice, NO tax-breaks, no tax-issues with marriage, nothing, for it to be beneficial is creating inequality based on the personal preferences of a person to marry or not to marry.
