Same with Adam and Eve. They had two sons, Cain and Abel. Cain slew Abel and went off to marry. Who did he marry?

If Adam and Eve only had sons....then the sons would of had to mate with.....their mum to produce offspring. A bit fucking weird isn't it? Also it's inbreeding, which can be fatal. It's genetic suicide.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

As can I, an old kook rides out the river overflowing it's banks in his bathtub while clutching a pig, a chicken, and his favorite cow (which would be his wife..of course). Since he never left the farm, either before or after, that's the whole world to him..lol

@Ace, but they didn't have to do anything of the sort, we've taken the adam and eve story and ran with it as an origins, but that's not how it was first envisioned. It was only an origins story for a select group of people, with full knowledge that there were other people. These people were just special, gods favorite. It's ethnocentrism by cosmic mandate. The narrative also provided a vehicle for the "our way of life is better than their way of life" drama that plays out between Cain and Abel. We can actually see how these shepherds regarded agriculture very plainly both in the "first murder" narrative and earlier in the curse that was placed to have thorns pricking the farmers, and how terrible their "toil" would be going forward. It's social and political commentary, not, strictly speaking, origins.

You know in Dr Who where the TARDIS is smaller on the outside than she is on the inside. That's the technology that Noah built into the ark. Its all in the bible. I'm currently building my own TARDIS.

Exactly!!! Its a mix of science and faith. Through science we know that noahs ark existed in the historical data of the old testament and that animals exist just like God does.

Through faith we know that all of the worlds animals fit on the ark.

More importantly, how do two people clean up millions of piles of shit a day?

Quote:In the first century CE, Caligula built two massive pleasure boats of massive size, shallow ,but very broad of beam.(the Nemi ships)

Very true, and they were called the "Nemi ships" because they were built to sail (only) on Lake Nemi, not the open ocean.

Italian archaeologists in the 1930's did recover the ships, deliberately sunk after Caligula's assassination, from the bottom of Lake Nemi.

Quote:Prima nave

The first ship recovered was 70 meters (230 ft) long with a beam (width) of 20 meters (66 ft).

The hull was divided into three "active" or main sections. The general shape of the hull appears wider at the stern and thinner at the bow, in fact, the main section is not amidships but is displaced towards the stern. The superstructures appear to have been made of two main blocks of two buildings each, connected by stairs and corridors, built on raised parts of the deck at either end. This distribution gives the ship a discontinuous look and has no similarity to any other ancient construction.[1]
[edit] Seconda nave

The second ship recovered was the larger at 73 meters (240 ft) in length and with a beam of 24 meters (79 ft).

We don't know how high they were and the specualtion is that the first "ship" was more a barge meant to be towed by the second which had oars. We do not know how high they were but again, they were on a small lake not the Med.

Sounds like they were a members-only club for orgies out of sight of the plebeians.
