Not only that but this Yahweh character felt the need to stick a sodding great multicoloured Post-It note in the sky to remind it not to drown everyone. Basically, if the world really is in the grip of an invisible genie that's one rainbow reminder away from wiping out all life, we are all royally screwed.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I think this is the same explanation for why people lived longer in the beginning of the Old Testament. Because they and the world were more "free from sin". But didn't god just drown the entire world because he judged the people in it to be "evil"?! Not one, not a few, not a city but the entire world! So much so that he believed it to be the only solution. Hell, you at least have to give the guy credit for admitting when he is wrong.
You think that's funny? People have actually suggested on this site that genetics worked differently back then, and that is how all of the animals were able to repopulate the world through inbreeding.

My absolute favorite "back in the day" argument was the pro-slavery argument. "What else would they do for jobs!". Apparently "back in the day" people had 9-5's, and the Lord (and his minions), then as now, was a terrible job creator.......

I think they must have counted the full moons etc or seasons, there's no way they lived to be 180 or so at any time in our history. So 180 would probably equate to 50 years old
A common belief doubtlessly stolen from older and wiser culture along with the rest of their bullshit.
Ever see the dates on the Sumerian king list?

#4Point out that the story of Noah's flood explains the origin of tectonic plates. "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up....#
They didn't have calendars in those days

Now that's just silly Average, Noah knew exactly what day of his life it was by the number of bruises on his help-mate.

I believe everything the Bible says about the flood. You just have to take it for what they actually meant.
The flooding of the world, was the flooding of the known world
and all the animals were simply all the land animals of that surrounding area.
You all take too literally the story of Noah and his sons. The message is far more important than the statistics: God punishes sin and spares the righteous.
You can mock me if you want to, but God will not be mocked for long.
