Noah's Ark
RE: Noah's Ark
Okay. Noah's arc.. How anybody can say that a all loving god did this with a straight face is beyond me but hell lets give it a whirl.

So god man shows up and looks at the earth and all the people he made. He decides "These are a bunch of evil gits lets kill em off"

Okay I see whats going on and fair play if I had a room full of Hitlers and a kill button try stop me. But your god is all knowing an created us therefore by proxy he created evil humans. Or the devil in which case he knowingly created the devil who is evil and knew he would corrupt them and didn't bother stopping this.

Next he see's an several hundred year old man and says "hey this guys okay. Ill keep him." The tells him and his family to build a boat.

Seriously did god only find one good family amongst all these people? That's a major fuck up. especially for someone all knowing and powerful but still its early days ill let him off.

Next they stick all Noah family on the boat with all the animals that walked their. Leaving all the rest of the world to die.. despite god loving everyone. Also leaving these people with no chance to say sorry and sort things out instead down come the rain and kills every evil little bastard on the planet. Men women children and babies. And the innocent animals that didnt win the celestial lottery that fateful day.

Okay so that's pretty fucked up. Mass murder because god screwed up. I mean one of the angels must have been like "god are you sure you cant just ask them to say sorry and sort it out?"

Anyway the boat then goes around for a while and luckley the animals have the good sense not to eat each other which is useful since we don't want to lose any species. And well done to the animals seems some only eat other animals. Then they find some nice land when the water fucks back off.

Okay this is where the shit really hits the fan. The whole planet just got flooded and yep we have all the animals. But fuck! We forgot all the fucking plant life.. Shit. Kinda absent minded of god if you ask me. Also now we are left with two of every species which is handy sept not all the fucking humans and animals are inbreeding and have no fucking food! Really god what the fuck are you doing dude?

Now god feels guilty even tho being all knowing he knew it would happen.

Good summery of the story? Moral - god is fucking mental!

Fear of death, fear of the unknown, fear of no absolute moral values, fear of uncertainty, fear of social rejection, fear of hell, fear of god. That's why they always think they have you when you admit that you don't know something. It has taken me a while but I finally feel OK with saying that I don't know the answer to some questions. I don't need to know in order to lead a good life. Atheism is bravery in the face of fear.

Which is why I have said I do not know when I do not know the answer to a question. However when i do know i am more than willing to share what little I have.

So, magic then. Like santa.

Quote:Santa does not claim to be God.

He does impossible things, like god. What he claims to be is irrelevant. I'm only going off what we know - the story is he gets down approx 1 billion chimneys in one night. Eats billions of mince pies without bursting. Delivers all the right presents to all the right kids.

That's as impressive as anything your god can do. Again, it's magic.

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Close, I am saying I do not know, beyond faith why some creatures still exist while others have been forgotten or written off as legend. And if any of you truly examine what you believe to be true neither do you.

Quote:Why would god worry about what was "salvageable" He's god, he can do anything, nothing is unsalvageable.
First one must understand what or why God is looking to salvage.

Quote: He can create or destroy anything... As far as why? again this is not a tale of logistics. This is a story about faith.
(Logistics points to how something is accomplished, not why)
Wink
Quote:Basically you like all christians use these silly, nonsensical stories to show that god thinks faith in him is important.
Actually Noah is not a "Christian Story."

Quote:All god has to do is show himself so we KNOW he's real rather than believe he's real. Problem solved. What use is belief if you can have knowledge?
What would be the purpose of knowledge when what God wants is faith from us?

ROFLOL

You really said that didn't you? Go away man.

WHY would god want faith from us when we could so easily know him? You bloody dipstick.

Methinks you art full of shit.

Big Grin
I never said God did not test. (Look at Job) I only said the point of the test was not for God's benefit, (Meaning He does not tests because He does not know the results) but to all of those (including the one being tested) who come after.

I taught a group of guys looking to be certified in the industry that i work in, and the first thing i did was to give them a version of their final certification exam. Not because i did not know the out come,( I knew they would all fail) but as a way to help humble some of the 20 and 30 year vets in my industry. The test wasn't for my knowledge. It was for them. so that when the week long seminar took place they had an honest assessment of their skill sets. Rather than the proud self assessment they walked in with. as a result they studied and took notes and legitmatly passed.

Now if I being a fallible man can contrive such an experience that would bring the normal result of 45% pass rate up to a 98% pass rate, wouldn't an all knowing God be able to do something similar with better results?

If you and others can do stuff like that, then we don't need a god.

So god murdered a bunch of people who will then have been sent off to hell for torture in favor of a different bunch of people? To prove a point? If the lazy bastard turned up for 5 mins and proved his existence then surely that would give a 100% pass rate. Instead he tests when just to be an asshole? Is this the god you are talking about?
