(March 19, 2012 at 8:52 pm)mediamogul Wrote: Right. So let me get this straight. When YOU are holding the book it is a personal, faith type thing that makes the book true.
Again you have been argueing the same tired stuff so long you do not see anything else. Take to time to read what is written rather than assume i am give you what you think a christian response should be.

I am saying there are very specific promises laid out in scripture for the believer. The next thing i said was I full fill the requirement for the believer and everything promised was given to me.

In short I tested the word of God against what I experienced, and the word was proven to be true. i got what was promised. Because I got and continue to receive what the scripture promises The book rings true in EVERY Aspect of My life.

There is no blind faith here. Faith was bought at the price of years of heavey scrutiny and challenges. That is apart of the reason I am here. to return some of what I was given.

Quote:But when I am holding the book you need evidence and proof. You still haven't answered my question: Why is it that you require proof from me or other religions and not from your own. I'm just asking for a simple straight direct answer.
Which has been answered twice now.

Religious people of every faith make that same argument from personal experience. They then use that to justify the truth of their books and beliefs. They are literally making the same arguments as you. You demand evidence from them but demand that we accept your beliefs on your arguments of faith. It is the question you still have not answered. Why don't you believe someone who is claiming to have had the exact same experience as you just in another religion?

You do not understand the arguements that are being made. At best you have taken key words and painted with a very broad bush to come to this conclusion. (Fallacy of sweeping generalization)

Quote:They then use that to justify the truth of their books and beliefs. They are literally making the same arguments as you.
Then you do not understand the arguement. I listed a set of parmeters in which one could test, and yeild a verifiable result. This is something blind faith believers do not do. Appearently this is the arguement you need me to argue in order for your rehearsed efforts to work. Because you keep returning to this broken line of thought over and over again.

You wish to trivialize and dismiss without addressing any of the prameters that i have said can be tested 4 times now. What are you afraid of? Why do you move with sweaping generalizations and Ignore what I have written in favor of trying to classify my words as a familiar response so you can quickly dismiss? Why dismiss when you can test? That is unless you have already closed you mind to any conclusions you have not already preapproved.

Quote:You demand evidence from them but demand that we accept your beliefs on your arguments of faith.
Absolutly NOT! I have now mention TESTABLE Promises written out in scripture a minimum of 5 times now, that anyone can with the right Mind/Heart can bank on.
I have absolutly all the evidence I will ever need. It was tailored to my every concern and question.

Quote:It is the question you still have not answered. Why don't you believe someone who is claiming to have had the exact same experience as you just in another religion?
1) you have not asked this question till now, 2)Your answer: Because no one else has claimed this yet.

It is against the Muslim doctrine to claim what i can.
It is against the Mormon Doctrine to Claim what i can.
It is against the Jewish Doctrine to Claim what I can.

It seems like you have been really wanting to get my attention. I do not mean to ignore you specifically, it's just there are alot of really important questions being asked, and i can not always stop what I am doing and give you the attention that you want simply because you are making noise. i know it is true that the squeaky wheel normally gets the grease, but know Here with me, Questions take precedent over opportunities to defend my pride/honor. infact that is the worse way to get the attention of another Man's servant. If you want his attention then place yourself with in the confines of his assigned task. So if you want my full attention then ask a question or present a challenge that begs for clarity.

Some suggestions that i have found other Atheist like to ask about:
Free will
Why God lets bad things happen to good people
How can a loving God kill women and Children in the OT
ETC.. (I hope you get the picture)

So again. Know if you post I will read every blessed word you write, just understand i can not take time like this to respond to every effort you make. Oh and if you are embarrassed to write a question out on the message boards, you can always PM me with your question and i will keep it to myself. this goes for anyone reading this post.

Now that is funny coming from a fucking attention whore like you who shows up spreading your bible shit all over an atheist forum.

I don't want you attention ( or anything to do with your fucking god. ) I simply want to insult the shit out of both of you at every opportunity because I cannot stand obnoxious cunts like you.

Got it now, shithead?

Then couldn't it be said you are working with a very limited understanding of the cosmos right now? So now the question now becomes What is the difference between the faith you have in your "Very Limited understanding of the Cosmos", and mine?

This is a complete diversion from my point, but if you would like, I will answer. Yes, my knowledge of the cosmos is as limited as yours, but the difference is that I refuse to fill the gaps in my knowledge with god. I refuse to follow the fallacious thinking that has plagued humankind since the dawn of civilization that is ascribing the unknown to a deity.

Genesis in a nutshell......

Satan fucks up gods divine plan with a few well chosen words.

God then spends next six thousand years trying to fix things up

AND STILL HASN'T SUCCEEDED!!!

Well played Satan.

Very well played.

Please explain. What did satan mess up, and what has God done that did not work?

God creates gardener and general handyman(plus assistant) to maintain his garden of eden.

Says don't touch that tree there or on that day you will surely die( lie number one)

The snake(satan) talks the assistant into eating the fruit of the tree.

God throws a snit and throws them out(notice that contrary to his previous statement they do NOT die on that day) BTW what sort of threat is death to someone who has no experience of it at all?

Evil builds in the world until god decides to wipe out all life in a major extinction event because of the sins of man.

Any half competent deity would've just sent a plague to eliminate people, but not this bumbling fool.

This attempt fails so that 2500 years later(approx) he sends himself as his son in order to sacrifice himself to himself to atone for our sins because that's the way he made us in the first place.

Apparently this attempt also fails because in the 2000 years since there has been nothing but evil, strife and misery in the world( strangely enough, most of it caused by religion.)

So no one of other faiths prays? No one of other faiths believes that god has answered their prayers and that is proof of their gods existence? No other books say these same things that your book says? Come now. Of course they do. It is not an oversimplification if it really is that simple. It is the religious folks who try to make it more "more complicated than that". People in Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, etc all believe that they have a personal relationship with god. The circular logic runs like this: I know god is real because the bible tells me he is. I know the bible is real because my experience of god verifies it. My experience of god is real because it matches what was written in the bible. I know the bible is real because my experience of god verifies it. my experience of god is real because the bible says it is. And so on ad infinitum. Every religion says this. If we can't at least agree on that then there is no point in continuing this discussion.

Answered prayers is NOT the proof of God in Christianity. I will agree it is in other religions. In Christianity Prayer is not the formalized wishing cermony it is in other religions.

Quote: No other books say these same things that your book says?
No other book! (I have taken some time and studied if you wish to discuss)

Quote:Come now. Of course they do.
How much time have you devoted in the last 20 to that assertion? Or are you simply relying on your peers that say they do?

Quote: It is not an oversimplification if it really is that simple. It is the religious folks who try to make it more "more complicated than that". People in Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, etc all believe that they have a personal relationship with god.
That statement is sacrilege in all of those religions, by virtue of their own governing doctrines.

Actually your effort here is a fallacy of Irrelevant conclusion. Your efforts diverts attention away from a fact in dispute rather than addressing them directly.
