Actually, you "avoid it" (a lie if there ever was one, judging by the increasing number of muslims in the world) because your imaginary friend says something about it is sinful, which is just an exceedingly flowery way of saying that your father doesn't like the idea of other people touching his things (wives and daughters included in those things, of course). I'm sitting here getting a giggle at just how terrible first time sex must be between people with no experience of touching the opposite sex, and in some cases, never having seen the females face prior to that moment.
