Christians walk out during criticism of the Bible
|
Lol, Mosrhun!
I can't really rag on C Rod too much. He's far more the harmless variety of theist and really if more were like him I'd probably have absolutely zero issues with religion. I SHOULD point out, though, Mr. Rod; if you pick and choose what aspects of the bible to listen to and what not to, does that make the bible fallible, and if so, why bother adhering to it? You do seem to follow the precepts of do unto others as they would have others do unto you. I should point out this is not a Christian-specific moral code; it far predates monotheism in general, in fact, by over a millenium. Just something for you to ruminate over, but even if you continue on your current conclusion, let it be known I appreciate your lack of dogmatic adherence. As for these people walking out on the criticism, we see this happen quite often. Ever see Religulous? Bill goes to a "truck-stop church" and asks some questions of the Xtians there, and within moments of him asking rather rational questions in a fairly respectful way, one declares he will not stand for this questioning and leaves in a huff. I believe the 10 commandments are for everyone and that the other commands are just for the Israelites, that's why there was 10 commandments on stone and how many ever other commands, separately.
The "do unto others" i find to be somewhat of common sense, where i think Jesus really shakes up life, is turn the cheek, if they take you tunic, let them have your cloak too, do not worry, love your enemies, and do not judge and etc. These are radically different and if people actually did these, what person could do wrong.

Epic fail. So, You imagine that a certain portion of gods commands were overarching and in service of this you offer us the celestial etch-a-sketch episode?
Many could do wrong. If you turned the cheek the world would be full of bullies. If you gave the cloak it would be full of users, if you loved your enemies -you would be dead-, If you did not judge then all of the above would be rampant But lets test this idea. Did your god turn the cheek? No, he did not. Will he give the cloak? No, he will not, in fact, he rather prefers curses over cloaks. Does he love his enemies? A strong and resounding no. Does he withhold judgement? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but that is all he does day in and day out every single day since the first man died...correct? So, firstly, we have a shitty code of morality that one must apply further modication too, modification not suggested or commaned in your scriptures called common fucking sense. You have to already have a decent sort of moral code before these little bits of drivel can even begin to enrich it (or just as easily degrade it). Secondly we have a "do as I say not as I do" god. Garbage on both counts. You want to know what the world would be like if everybody signed onboard with christendom? Pick up a history book. Been there, done that.

Christians quickly walk out because they can't handle the truth. They choose to live in ignorance and self righteousness. It makes them feel superior and gives them a false sense of security. Stupid fucks!
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

"what person could do wrong"
I didn't say that all people should do this. They wont but for the one who does he lives a life like you described, and i ask did he do anything wrong. Jesus turned the cheek Jesus gave his blood Jesus died for everyone Jesus has the right to judge but acknowledges your judgement

Jesus and the Abrahamic God are different people? I didnt know that the pendulum had swung so far back in that direction. You want jesus-as god, you get all the fun shit. I know, I know, you like to wash your hands- overruled.

Now, I'm not averse to harsh or colorful language, nor am I apologizing for anyone who walked out on the guy while he was speaking, but it is possible that some walked out on his speech because they were offended by his language. It didn't bother me in the least, but it does bother others. I think he could have gotten his message across without the language. Anyway, that's my two cents worth. Others might think that is just bullshit.
