'The difference between a Miracle and a Fact is exactly the difference between a mermaid and seal. It could not be expressed better.'
-- Samuel "Mark Twain" Clemens "I think that in the discussion of natural problems we ought to begin not with the scriptures, but with experiments, demonstrations, and observations". - Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) "In short, Meyer has shown that his first disastrous book was not a fluke: he is capable of going into any field in which he has no training or research experience and botching it just as badly as he did molecular biology. As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else! " - Dr. Donald Prothero
Lol chuff that pic was posted on page 2.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
Quote:Because when my kids go to school I don't want them learning unsubstantiated bullshit. Duh. Oh so you mean you are against teaching evolution in the schools. Since no observation has taken place of the developemnet of the species and no scientific experiment has replicated one claimed historical change then evolution is unsubstantiated and not scientific. My last words on the same sex issue--homosexuals should not be allowed to marry as we do not legitimize murderers, rapists, liars, thieves so we should not legitimize their sin. We do not need a consensus of what is or isn't sin because God has already done that and human culture has been andis known to differ on what is right or wrong. One culture in Paupa new Guinea believes that lying or deception is the best thing to do, another culture has no problem with slavery--sexual or otherwise. So we cannot depend upon human opinion to determine what is right or wrong. I think that you should read more about evolution before starting a discussion about that one. But then again, you'd probably see that it's logically very possible. I think this Guy explains my feelings completely.
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful" - Edward Gibbon (Offen misattributed to Lucius Annaeus Seneca or Seneca the Younger) (Thanks to apophenia for the correction)
'I am driven by two main philosophies: Know more about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you' - Neil deGrasse Tyson "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." - Mark Twain
Like they speak...There is no harm done. I view this as such: a guy comes in front of your house door, lays a thick layer of newspaper in front of it, and takes a dump in public. He then proceeds to pick this up, and throw it into the trash bin(the "no harm done" part). You're appalled at this grotesque display, and wish nothing more than for him to fuck off, and when you try to say anything to him, he maintains the notion that you're interrupting his civil liberties.
And when you call the police, he maintains the law is oppressing him. This is what this is all about. Üze Tengri basmasar, asra Yir telinmeser, Türük bodun ilingin törüngin kim artatı udaçı erti? RE: North Carolina bans gay marriage

Teaching creationism is a violation of the 1st amendment. That it doesn't affect me directly doesn't mean that it's not wrong. Why is gay marriage wrong? Because children will be aware of it? (May 10, 2012 at 10:44 am)kılıç_mehmet Wrote: The marriage of two men or two women are especially prone to cause confusion... So your reasoning is that if we allow gay marriage, eventually people will forget how to fuck? (May 10, 2012 at 10:44 am)kılıç_mehmet Wrote: For those who are proponents of gay marrige-it would certainly be more logical for you to advocate the complete abolition of the insitution of marriage, than to advocate the involvement of homosexuality into it! Well I do, but I will just settle for legalizing gay marriage. (May 10, 2012 at 10:44 am)kılıç_mehmet Wrote: 1-Marriage is the basis of the traditional family, which is the pillar that keeps society going. It does this by producing newer generations of people, born into a family, raised in a family, and supported by a family. No, legally, marriage is none of those things. Marriage is a legal construct. Laws are made so we in society can all get along, not so we can force our opinions on each other. I don't care whether or not you approve of the marriage; society's approval should have nothing to do with recognition by the state. Keep your opinions out of the law. (May 10, 2012 at 10:44 am)kılıç_mehmet Wrote: I know that marrige is built on fundamental roles, and fundamental rules, boundaries that have been same across the world. That is a God-awful lie. Marriage laws have never been the same in every country. (May 10, 2012 at 12:21 pm)kılıç_mehmet Wrote: Same with me, friend. I don't want my kids to be exposed to open homosexuals or homosexuality at any age, if posssible. For the 10 billionth time, being exposed to gay doesn't make you gay. Gay is not contagious. The only thing that is contagious when being exposed to gay people is acceptance, and if you have a problem with that, then you really are nothing but a bigot. (May 10, 2012 at 12:21 pm)kılıç_mehmet Wrote: It is a part of society? Even dogs are more of a part of society than homosexuals. So homosexuals are dogs. You know what, so are Jews. Hey, I have an idea, let's put them all in a oven! Oh wait... (May 10, 2012 at 12:21 pm)kılıç_mehmet Wrote: I look at the civility of a society on it's traditional, moral and social values. So they're depraved because they makes children aware that they exist, and they are a negative influence on children because they are gay. That is completely circular reasoning. So what makes being gay immoral in the first place?!? Abnormal does not equal depraved. I am against stupid marriage. If you are stupid, you can't marry a stupid. I'm not depriving you of any rights because you are free to marry a non-stupid like the rest of us. You're marriage is stupid, therefore you can't get married. Q.E.D.
"Sisters, you know only the north; I have traveled in the south lands. There are churches there, believe me, that cut their children too, as the people of Bolvangar did--not in the same way, but just as horribly. They cut their sexual organs, yes, both boys and girls; they cut them with knives so that they shan't feel. That is what the Church does, and every church is the same: control, destroy, obliterate every good feeling. So if a war comes, and the Church is on one side of it, we must be on the other, no matter what strange allies we find ourselves bound to."
