I went to high school in the mid 90's, and the first year I was there we only had one computer connected to the internet in the library. The students weren't supposed to close the browser when they were done, but apparently it became quite the problem. The guy in charge of the library(they got mad if you called them librarians, they wanted to be called media-specialists) put up a sign next to the computer saying, "Students do not have the power to turn off the internet."
