Annoying conversation.. "But you're such a good person!"

RE: Annoying conversation.. "But you're such a good person!"
She seemed so surprised that it was possible to be an atheist and still be nice and decent to people. She said, "Well, all atheists like you are like all mean and wear black and are all sad and stuff. That's wrong. If you don't believe in god then you know what? You don't accept his gift, you aren't thankful for what he's done, you don't deserve to be in heaven. "

That was definately.. entertaining. I couldn't help but laugh. It just bothers me when people like her get so defensive and preachy. I don't understand how god and jesus and the bible is believeable. To me, the whole idea of that is just fiction.

Lol, it's almost like she thinks all goth kids are atheists (and vice versa). What a dildo.

Mmmm, yes that is a tough one Thinking. I would have to see how large her breasts are before taking a stand on that one. But she does sound like an arrogant, self righteous, little twat.
I'm back, all grovel and tremble before mighty Zeus... I accept donations.

Of course we don't worship volcanoes! We praise them. Volcanoes and and George Carlin. Then we eat the girl children.

I have faced similar scenarios several times before. Initially I would give them a polite 'fuck off'. I learned that they didn't take this seriously and simply used it as a social cue that the subject was somehow taboo; since I was one of those polite atheists. I was always dismayed, so I developed a new tactic: "Oh, please, do go fuck yourself".

I can't properly convey the manner in which I express it, but it does have a very high damage rate. This phrase must be expressed calmly and with a certain rhythm that communicates that you know something he/she doesn't (which is the truth). The emphasis should be on the 'oh', as if to say idiot. 'Please' should be said in a an almost begging fashion that communicates that the sentiment was fuck all nuts, but I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself. The 'do go fuck yourself' bit conveys the sincere meaning that you take it seriously and that you are focused in your derision so that the recipient takes it personally.

I thought it was cool so I let him, and he asked me if I was religious or believed in any god and I said no. Later that day, my friend that was also there started to ask me about it. She said something like, "I noticed he was reading your palm and you said you didn't believe in god. Why?" I said, "Because I don't.." Then she started going all "he gave you life, you breathe because of him, etc.." Then I told her I didn't believe in that and then she said, "Why did you deny him? You know, the bible says that that if you deny the lord in front of your friends, you will be denied to his face." Then I said, "Well, I don't believe that either.." She told me that she was shocked because I was such a nice person but didn't believe in god. I pointed out to her that you can be a good person and still not believe in god or be religious and it was just annoying.. I can't stand when people do that!
I wouldn't spend too much time faulting your friend. A lot of people mistakenly attribute things to people on the basis of feeling. Long-life and maturity generally cure people of this kind of ill eventually. I wouldn't have started quoting scripture to someone who had no respect for its content. It would seem counter-productive and very much a dead end to me. I would have been more interested to find out how you'd come to the conclusions you have. In that way, I could evaluate whether your disbelief had any merit or whether it was merely the product of rebellion or otherwise a will set against an affirmative and appropriate belief in or acknowledgment of He who is ultimately responsible for your existence.

ROFLOL

Good one.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
