haha it's ok
I've been hooked on these vids - I've actually watched all the way from 0-2.7!!
Incredibly insightful and intelligent
I actually described 2.6 (The End) as probably the best pro-atheism (and (non-aggressively) anti-theism) videos I've ever seen...
Thanks for the recommendation ^^

My only lingering issue with the Ian McCormack vid is... how do we explain how long they were gone for? Some people were in mortuaries for quite a while before they came back O.O

AND against the principles of all major religions.
So, according to your own real beliefs, you are going to burn in hell for that.
But don't worry. You are also wrong about that.

Actually, we have yet to find any contemporary writings about Jesus. Not a single primary source exists as far as we know. If you've not really studied history, that means that nobody who supposedly knew Jesus ever wrote about him (or if they did, the writings have never been found) All we have is hearsay; writings by people who heard from someone who heard that someone heard of someone... Chinese whispers basically. So whether he existed or not, there is no credible evidence to prove it.
I was told in RE at school about there being all this historical evidence for Jesus... Then one day I mentioned it online and someone said to me "Look for it. You'll be amazed at what you don't find." and they were quite correct. So for now I am inclined to believe he is fictional, unless we do find something more reliable to suggest otherwise.
I don't get all that fuss about the lack of evidence for Jesus existence. What if he did? Lots of people existed at the time. What difference does one more man?
The real argument is about whether one of the men that existed actually had superpowers, came back from the dead and was one and the same with whoever created the universe. THAT's a claim that needs some real evidence. I couldn't care less if a man named Jesus actually existed two thousand years ago, or even if he thought he was such deity. Lots of people did.

Do people still think I'm some kind of undercover theist?
If I was a theist then I would have simply stated it in my religious views, not lied!
The reality is I'm just open-minded and curious - 'tis no crime!

Bolding is mine....so, in the interests of being open minded let's try something fucking insane. Explain that by reference to the supernatural, at your leisure.......
Many things have been (at times, and up to this very day) inexplicable. Why can't we explain them? Well, they wouldn't be inexplicable if we knew that now would they? If we were to reference the inexplicable, and then casually explain it by way of a wave of the hands, magic words, or ghostly spirits, in what way are we dealing with the inexplicable? In what way have we explained anything to begin with?

I think maybe speedy just wants to scurry around raising doubts about doubts .. out of his curiosity. How else could we explain it?

Explaining what specifically, that some people lay in mortuaries after being pronounced dead? I should think that would be pretty obvious, that's kind of where we keep dead bodies. As far as "how long they were gone for", just how long do we think they were "gone for"...and where are we assuming they went. Seems to me like they went to a fucking mortuary, and they couldn't have been "gone" for long or they wouldn't be cavorting about telling the tale of their magical trips.

Undercover theist, no. Disingenuous theist, yes.
You initially claimed to have been an atheist for ten years, yet after only a few weeks on AF you became agnostic. Some form of theistic label will likely follow as a result of your open mind.
You constantly invoke open mindedness as a means to justify your faux skepticism and to encourage others to accept bullshit as plausible reality. This is the reason I cannot accept your contribution as genuine.
When I was much younger, I went through an Ayn Rand phase. Although I vehemently disagree with much of her later work I agree when she said not to have an open nor a closed mind, but an active mind (knowing Rand she probably hijacked this from someone else). Open mindedness here means that you accept everything that enters as plausible without critical thought. Closed mindedness means that you reject new information in favor of your biases. Active mindedness means that you consider all new information, but it must be accepted or rejected based on its merit in terms of validity based on all available information.
