A powerful way of sharing?

I've been thinking of compiling all my research and putting it somewhere on the net. Sort of like starting a website I guess, but the problem is that I don't have the skills to do such a thing. So I was wondering if anyone here knew of any websites or blogs that allow you to make a approximation of a stand-alone website? Also, if it had features like making multiple pages and being able to hyperlink them would be great (sort of like tumblr in that respect).

Stand-alone? Not quite sure what you mean. I presume you're talking about creating your own personal website that is hosted on free web space included with your ISP account, or on a free web hosting services.

Yeah, these pre-date blogging and are now defunct sorry. I don't know of any that are still currently running, if any.

tripod.com is still free and it's still up (unless my old resume site from 14 yrs ago is still drawing from cache - that would be awesome, by the way). very easy to set up there as well, and your site will be "whatever.tripod.com".

Blogger or WordPress work fine for me. All you need to do is buy a domain name and point it to the blog. There is a free hosting service called 000webhost.com, which can be used to host a WordPress blog. However, it may be dodgy so best wait till one of the resident IT experts offers an opinion.
