I've heard similar statistics. There was a demonization of the foreskin thanks to the church, and doctors got on the wagon, citing all manner of penile peril should the flesh be left intact.

Hmmm..... it's about this time that someone starts to point out that the reason doctors did that is because they were all Jews anyway.
