Trying to see the "positive" of Christianity.
#11
RE: Trying to see the "positive" of Christianity.
John 8:12 ...Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Ephesians 5:7 Therefore do not associate with them; 8) for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9) for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true, 10) and try and discern what is pleasing to the Lord. 11) Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

1st John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from Him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. 6) If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7) But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us....

1st John 2:9 Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. 10) Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. 11) But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

They were not negative for a few thousand years, the God of the Bible has not changed and neither has His word, people have changed and IMO for the worse. Shouldn't what has stood as truth for thousands of tears still hold true, the ones you named above has not been changed by man, why have the ones you refer to as negative.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

No. Primitive bigoted horseshit needs to be exposed as primitive bigoted horseshit and eliminated from the modern world. The days of your dark superstitions are over.

I love that graphic. I think a lot of good could be achieved in the world just by handing out fliers with that graphic on it as people file into church.

Despite what GC or Drich will tell you, for any specific theological question, if you pick six Christians at random, you will get seven different opinions. On this specific question, you're going to get a radically different answer if you're talking to a Calvinist than talking to a Catholic. So the answer, as always, is that "it depends". Christians nominally use the same bible to justify their faith, but there is no such thing as an uninterpreted text, and a lot of what determines interpretation of the text comes from outside the text. (With all deference to Derrida, whom I believe was right in saying, "Il n'y a pas de hors-texte.")

Actually theres no guarantee they would use the same Bible, theres many different versions that could be interpreted in any number of different ways. Then again I suppose they wouldn't be part of mainstream Christianity at the point they're not using the more widely used version. Don't most use the King James version?

I would not like them
here or there.
I would not like them
anywhere.
I do not like
green eggs and ham.
I do not like them,

Do you see how easy it is to invoke quotes from books? I maintain that my quote gives other humans more practical advice...don't fucking eat green eggs and ham. The only exception I grant is if you are eating green eggs and ham on March 17th. On this particular day you can be reasonably assured that the green is a consequence of food coloring for the sake of St. Patrick's Day.

Dr. Seuss is morally superior to the God of the Bible. QED!

Straw man. Where did anyone argue, "Primitive bigoted horseshit does not need to be exposed as primitive bigoted horseshit", or "Primitive bigoted horseshit doesn't need to be eliminated from the modern world"?

Rather, the question is whether Christianity can be accurately characterized as 'primitive bigoted horseshit'. (Disclaimer: We all fucking know what you think the right answer is. What happens in reasoned discussions is that you explain the reasoning behind your answer.)

RE: Trying to see the "positive" of Christianity.
So God is all loving in Christianity. He sends his son - so that those whom love the light, will be saved.
Those who are saved responded to the love. The love is for everyone.

Naturally, there should be a love towards the beauty of God. If we place our trust in Jesus and his sacrifice, we will live as repentant servants. This will make us humble towards God and naturally incline to good actions.
I guess

The holy spirit will guide the faithful and all those whom are inclined towards the light.
Guess so

What I'm asking, is it really accurate to say, those whom love the light, will all be guided to Christianity?
Those who love the light have to know about the light. So yes.

Is it accurate to say, all Christians have been guided by the holy spirit, while non-Christians love the darkness over the light?
I don't think so. Depends how you define Christian. I think you could quote the bible to state how non Christians are guided by THS.

Do Christians here really believe this? Or I am misunderstanding?
I think that God has unconditional love for all and that "all will be drawn to him".

Ok here is an issue...there is 3 parts at work, the holy spirit, the will to submit to the holy spirit, and the teachings of the bible.

Now I've quoted before to Christians parts of the bible about women in Paul's words, and they say this is not inspired, but is rather Paul's ideas.

So now the question is, how do you tell what is inspired or not. I can find inspirational Islamic teachings, yet Christians don't believe those are inspired.

Is that each part of the bible you can tell is inspired or is it only the whole of it together...yet I don't understand if it's the latter, how you can tell when each part you can't tell.

Since you obviously don't pay attention very well, G-C said:

You and G-C can deny the miserable effects of your fucking religion all you like but do not expect us to buy it.

Perhaps best summed up by:
