@mystic: I am not trying to change anyone's beliefs. Not only do I consider proselytising arrogant, I don't care enough to bother. This forum is a past time for me. In daily life Jeff and his fellow travelers don't get the time of day from me. Nor do I bother with new age flakes. The guy asked for a debate. I said no,giving my reasons. The End.

You said he seems like a person whom is set on his beliefs and unwilling to change. The fact is most people seem that way. But people do change over time.

I said no such thing. I said he is unwilling to concede the possibility of error,which is not the same thing. I could not care less if he changes, bursts into flames, or not.. I don't suffer fools.


Actually,most people do not change in any meaningful way;the very notion is too threatening and just too hard. Significant change tends to happen quickly or not at all.

How did you come to this conlcusion after no one jumped at the opportunity to debate you on the issue of whether or not believing in god is rational, or are you just stirring the pot and being a dick?

The latter I think,and probably unintentionally. I think he's ignorant and not the brightest candle in the cathedral, but not especially nasty.

In my experience it's no fun to mop the floor with someone if they're incapable of understanding you've done so. To me you clearly have poor standards of research given your very faulty logic and assertions that Darwin and Einstein were deists or theists. Maybe you were being disingenuous or maybe you were simply mistaken, I'm inclined to think the latter until I have cause to believe the former. The fact you repeated the same mistake (after it was pointed out around four or five times) smacks of laziness and/or intellectual dishonesty, especially given that you never conceded that the logic was faulty or that your assertions were incorrect.

The above stated is why I do not wish to debate you.

Assuming I want or need to take on the baggage of your bronze age superstitions is patronising and insulting.

I won't call you patronizing and insulting because I don't want to accuse people of things, but can you understand how the statement you made could be interpreted as such?
