Genius up there is actually right, but as usual, for the wrong reasons.
Mayors & such shouldn't be able to rule by fiat. (This isn't the same as Wal-Mart, there is hard evidence that Wal-Mart is bad for any given communities' economy.)
Chik-fil-a should be allowed to open. If the good people of Boston & Chicago really don't want a certain restaurant in their city they are free to ignore it.
If *no one* eats there, it will go under in about a month & a half & would basically guarantee that no one else tried to open another CFA in that area.
Alternatively, the city council could create legislation that states that any company, such as Chik-Fil-A, that donates to known hate groups aren't welcome in the city limits. Have it voted on in referendum. If it passes, the people have spoken & CFA can GTFO.
What's good for head shops & package stores, would also be good for bigots like Chik-fil-a.

Controversy and outrage erupted when Chick-fil-A CEO, Dan Cathy said that he supported traditional marriage...."We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that." - Dan Cathy to the 'Baptist Press'.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel also weighed in saying that he supported an Alderman's call to ban Chick-fil-A from their city..."Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values," - Rahm Emmanuel...(The Chicago Alderman has also backed off his threat block Chick-fil-A as well).
No matter how you feel on gay marriage or any other subject, should an elected official be allowed use his position of authority in public office to assault and threaten people whose speech disagrees with their own personal and political beliefs?
I am always happier when I know what politicians think about God, marriage, family, the bible...

Of course you are. What about the people who don't believe in the bible, or your particular god? What about the people whose families are two dads, two moms, or a single parent? Those people are just fucked, but that's cool, as long as you're happy. I get it.
What if your elected official thought about Allah and the Koran? It would be allowed, because America is a land built upon freedom of religion. Would you still be happy? Now that's how I feel about that bullshit you just said.
Get it?

No.
I dont get what you mean. Sorry.
I said..."happier when I know what politicians think"
If a politician didnt declare that they were a closet atheist, how would I know whether to vote for them?
And I'd rather vote for a muslim than an atheist - all things being equal.

This is what fucking pisses me off about politics and the way people vote. A politician's stance on god should have absolutely nothing to do with whether you should vote for him/her. What should matter is the politician's policies and the direction the politician plans to take the town/state/country.
Answer me this, if you were planning to vote for a candidate because you love everything he/she talks about doing, would you not vote for them simply because you found out they didn't believe in god?

Chick-Fil-A closes on Sunday so their employees can "worship and spend time with their families". We have a craft store (Hobby Lobby) in our area that also closes on Sunday for the same reason. I'm sure these self righteous assholes think they're doing something wonderful. But what about people who DON'T worship on Sunday? By closing on Sunday, these businesses are denying their non-worshipping employees an opportunity to work and earn money. And as for the crap about "so they can spend time with their family".... You mean these non-worshipping people couldn't have Saturday off? Or another day during the week? And what if your spouse works on Sunday but you're off because Hobby Lobby or Chick-Fil-A is closed? What if your spouse is off on Monday but you have to work? Maybe you CAN'T spend time with your family because some religious dickhead thinks you shouldn't be working on Sunday. This is why I refuse to patronize Hobby Lobby. There aren't any Chick-Fil-A's in my area, but if there were I wouldn't eat there for the same reason.

Interesting.
The Hobby Lobby around here closes on Sunday and they have a sign on the door that says something like, "WE'RE CLOSED ON SUNDAY SO OUR EMPLOYEES CAN WORSHIP AND SPEND TIME WITH THEIR FAMILIES".
It pisses me off because the implication here is that everyone is Christian and needs Sunday off.

The liquor stores here are closed on Sunday. I don't drink, so it doesn't really effect me, but I've seen some very christian people get pretty fucking steamed about it.

Lol, 54% of Americans would vote for an atheist. In the UK, 2 out if 3 of the largest political parties leaders, are atheist, the other admitted he isn't sure on his christianity and he tries to believe.
