Surely you mean that you have interpreted the ramblings of buddhists to be somehow relevant to the things that interest you in cognitive science...hehehe.

I think it will be the rapture before that happens.
There is no rapture, why don't you read the Bible before you comment.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who have read the bible who would disagree with you.

Nobody can possibly read the whole bible and believe any of it. That's why.

That's the problem with many people they read the Bible, what they need to do is study.

Surely that would just increase the number of atheists on this rock... you wouldn't want that now, would you?

It seems insane in the extreme to me that you would believe something was the word of God but not bother reading it, as if I believed that I'd be reading every word.
There are Christians on this site who behave like they wholly believe it, but those high number of Christians who don't show any interest in reading the Bible incline me to think they must not really actually believe in it.
[/i] Well, I don't think that they don't read it, but they read it differently than you do.

You say that as though I actually believe in a rapture, and wasn't just taking the piss.

They get read selected passages from the vicar, pastor, preacher that seem to support the message of the week and feel that that is sufficient.
If more people read it fewer would believe it.
I read a story about one famous person, (whose name annoying escapes me) who was made to read the bible to strengthen his faith, who delighted in reading the parts where god ordered atrocities out loud and saying "look what the bastards doing now" or words to that effect.
Ooh I think this might've been in the "god delusion" somewhere.
(looks at the god delusions thickness) I shall let you discover it for yourself.
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.
