I know these are crazy people but the crazies are getting more numerous. I really hope we're not headed to another Civil War. The problem is, how do we talk to people when they live in an alternate reality?

We don't, Deist. We just kick them in the nuts repeatedly until they shut up with their craziness. Or at least start spouting their craziness in such a pitch that it brings mirth and good cheer and many laughs to all who hear it, thus robbing the crazy individual of all their fire.

That's why I volunteered Texas as a place for the republicans to do what they will with. You can't talk with them. I seriously meant no offense as I made this offering in jest. I think a lot of Southerners are still raw about losing the Civil War, or as it was called in my middle school history class, the War of Northern Agression. However, if we're going to take my jest seriously, in my alternate reality we would most definitely have a massive relocation program for those who would not wish to live under the republicans. Hell, I'd compensate them (if I were queen of the world) with Romeny's houses, Chaney's ranch, and all those CEOs' manses. I think some sort of agreement could be reached to relocate our liberal brethren under these conditions. But these are just my crazy musings. I do, in fact, sincerely hope things do not devolve into any actual fighting. Though I've heard the same grumblings of civil war amongst coal miners from Kentucky and West Virginia, which is, to say the least, disturbing.
I live in Texas. There are indeed far too many wackos here. There are a lot of good people here as well though.

There are many good people in Michelle Bachmann's district.
Still didn't make a shitwit of difference in electing that bag of cunt hair. Slave to the Patriarchy no more

Wha... You aren't joking. Are you? I mean...they actually CALL IT THAT? THE FUCKING SOUTH OPENED FIRE FIRST AFTER DECLARING THEMSELVES TO BE BREAKING AWAY FROM THE UNION, EFFECTIVELY DECLARING TREASON AND REBELLION. There was no fucking Northern Aggression, THE SOUTH was the aggressor! Ugh...un-fucking-believable and yet completely believable all at once. Unbelievable because I don't want to imagine that people are that retarded and yet believable because what I want and what I get are two different things in the realms of reality. festive1 Wrote:I think a lot of Southerners are still raw about losing the Civil War, or as it was called in my middle school history class, the War of Northern Agression Oh, they very much are still raw about it. It's quite an amazing thing to see people hold a grudge for so long. This whole Texas conversation reminds me of something I said to my parent last time they were here. I am the first one in my family born oustide of Texas, so I am constantly ripping on Texas in front of my parents(they are in denial about their home state). I don't do it in a malicious way, but it's still a reflection on my views about Texas. Anyways, I was talking about how ass-backwards their state has become, and eventually my mom responded with, "You know, lots people are very proud to be from Texas." And I said, "That's the problem!"

The fact that the Union wanted to abolish slavery is viewed by some Southerners' even today as the Union wanting to "destroy" the Southern way of life. When I was first learning about the Civil War it was all in terms of economics. The fact that people were enslaved wasn't even really addressed or acknowledged beyond that the South had discovered this excellent means of free labor and the vile North wanted to deprive them of it. It's sizable and they can make whatever policies they'd like, bomb whomever they choose, and have no government to meddle in their lives. Would anyone miss Texas?? When you're queer and you live in Houston, this scares the shit out of you. And, yet, I'm starting to think it will really happen. It would be a win/win if you ask me. Conservatives would get their paradise to do whatever they want and the rest of the nation gets a whole fuck of a lot more liberal without the ass backwards politicians from Texas dragging them down. Only one change I'd make: give them Utah, too; I don't think the Mormons would want to stick around if Texas split.
