Why Fundies Say I'm Not a Christian

I'll give you this much, the expectations of Muslims annoy me more than Christians at times. Particularly those who move to European countries with the expectation that the country they would like to join needs to change its practices concerning tolerance and freedom of the press to accommodate Islam. They truly take the cake for gall. That there are so many ready to martyr themselves is as much an indictment of the conditions they live under as it is what the Koran tells them.

Since you say you are "part" of the Church of England, this is what they believe as being a Christian.

Common Worship

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Oh, I say the Apostles' Creed all the time. All of us do. The former Archbishop of York who is famous for his writings that dispute the existence of Jesus says it too. You see, in my church, we are not literalists. We interpret the Creeds differently. We define "God" differently. But we say the Creeds probably more often than you say the Lord's Prayer.

That's the revised one from 2000.....if they viewed it differently, they would have revised the Apostle's Creed to fit those different views by then.
