There's only one "l" in "enrol".
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Both spellings of enrol/enroll are acceptable. Enroll is American English. Enrol is International English (what the rest of the world uses). That's why we encouraged the Americans to have their own version of English - so the rest of the world can spot them on the internet.

Like it matters. If you don't understand somebody's English, you can always ask a question. If you're just here to scold, then you're an asshole. For what it's worth, I find competency in spelling and grammar to bear no relation to intelligence or wit. (And I noted early on in my days of electronica that this and other electronic media tend to result in reduction in both actual performance and concern for spelling and grammar, for reasons I don't fully understand.) Knowledge and intelligence are not the same thing. The internet is a written medium, so (whether you like it or not) you will be judged on your ability to perform with the written word. For me, it's like... I was paying attention during English lessons. Some people, however, were too busy passing a note to Emily Jenkins so that she could pass the note to Sarah Brown asking if she could meet them by the bike sheds for a kiss after school. And now, I'm being judged harshly because I have the knowledge that others couldn't be arsed to gain (and retain). If we have to keep dumbing-down everything to the lowest common denominator, we (as a species) have basically stopped evolving and progressing. We're all stuck in the Stupid Class, working to the same levels of mediocrity. For me, when I point out a spelling mistake, it isn't so I can feel all superior and "better" than the other person. I'm doing it so as to help them be better. Lots of little steps and everyone can be more knowledgeable than they were before. This seems like a good thing, to me. It certainly seems like a better thing, surely? Tho' Nature, red in tooth and celt With ravine, shriek'd against his creed Red Celt's Blog |
