I rarely draw anything for my design besides sketching.
Print all the way. I believe I'll be doing an intro to web in my third year though. Unfortunately for me my course has a strong fine arts root to it, so I'm neck deep in figure and perspective drawings at all times.

It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -
It gives a lovely light!

Ahhh, I forgot about the "first year" part. I've have to take 5 or 6 fine arts classes (along with many art history courses) and a bit of photography as well. It's worth it, I promise. It gives you a better foundation. What kinds of courses are you taking now?

I'm taking 8 courses at the moment and they are split between theory and practicals. The practical subjects include Storyboards, Typo, Drawing, Digital Design and Studio (which is like an umbrella for all the alternative projects).
Wish we could do a bit of photography though. :/

I worked my ass off in first couple years so I could relax more when I got to the harder stuff. I'm currently in Ad Design, Illustration I, and Art History III (also Psych of Religion, but that's for my psych minor, haha). I'm actually doing some design homework right now. D: I'm designing an ad campaign to bring awareness to sustainability. I'm doing them in the style of WWII American propaganda posters. Should be fun.
You can learn photo on your own and I really suggest you do. Taking your own photography is less expensive than hiring someone to do the job.

I love graphic design, I really do. I'm studying psychology on the side for fun and I studied advertising for how it would look on my resume.

advertising? is that consumer behavior - reaction to certain forms of advertisment? - so more economics than art?

The course I took had to do with advertising ethics, advertising writing, principles of advertising and things like that. I did have to take a economics course, but it's more about the theory behind advertising than the money behind it. I am glad I took that econ course, it was much more in depth than the one I had to take in high school. It's separate from my major, which is graphic design. It'll make me look good when I'm sending my portfolio and resume to companies.

so you didn`t have to take that course in order to continue your studies? Your trying to get the best possible portfolio by expanding your era of experties into several subcategories wich are conected with each other?
that would be impressive, since most students i know dont give a damn about what their portfolio will look like when their finished with uni and believe they`ll get a job anyway.

Basically. It's really for my own benefit. Taking these courses will make me a better designer and I'm already paying for college. Psychology was mostly for fun, but it's already influenced my design for the better.
