Questions about God and Science

Secondly, that is just the same old 'ancient astronaut' spiel.

So if Dawkins was interviewed again, now, he would say something different?

@Akin-What about what was said has you hung up (and why did you feel the need to post a clip from a joke-reel in the first place)?

@IATIA.-I wasn't aware that there was a suitable theory for the origins of the first self replicating molecules as of yet..links? I was aware of the success at New York University but I'm not sure how that applies to origins, as the techniques they used were not "available to the cosmos" as far as we know. I suppose it does show that self replicating molecules can occur without the presence of magic though......

RE: Questions about God and Science
People are ready to say ID isn't science and that it's creationism.

Richard Dawkins, respected evolutionary biologist and big-name atheist, when asked to speculate on how life began, says maybe life came from intelligent aliens - in other words, an intelligent designer.

That's weird, right?

You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.

LOL, no, something altogether weirder is going on, and the irony is delicious. Have you ever considered how amusing things can get when you attempt to answer a non-sensical question seriously? Sometimes, when you humor someone, hilarity follows. Other times, people link to sources which have been so thoroughly debunked as to practically ensure that hilarity ensues.......

Dawkins was humoring a non-sensical question?

And? You keep expecting me to wade through this shit, and I keep asking you to summarize some (or any) key point.....I mean, ffs...gimme a time range even for just this audio..at what point should I be listening?

Indeed he was, and such should have been perfectly clear to you even from that garbage clip.

No, no, no. Akincana, the Dawkins clip you're talking about was dishonestly and sloppily edited by a very bad liar. Here's a video debunking it.

Damn, Overlord, you beat me to it! Quite by chance, I was watching that exact video just last night, so when I saw the bastardised clip on the previous page, it was the first thing that popped into my head. If I was feeling mean, I'd say that only those with a vested interest in preserving simple beliefs would be so willingly taken in by simple editing tricks. In other words, such video clips as posted with no contextual framework, as on the previous page, feed into a deep-seated need to believe.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Stein asked Dawkins several times to speculate on whether he thought it was possible if life on Earth came about due to ID.

To humor Stein, Dawkins speculated that, given the context of Stein's question, that we could have been seeded by advance extraterrestrials.

Dawkins does not believe for a second that life on earth actually started that way. He was only speculating on a possible form of ID.

And you know what? Dawkins speculation, however incredibly improbable it is, is immensely more probable than a god being responsible.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
